Reinhold Friedrich

Reinhold Friedrich is one of the most popular trumpeters of our time. Since his first prize in the international ARD competition in Munich in 1986 he has been present on the important stages of the national and international music scene. From 1983 to 1999 he has been Soloist at the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt and performed under conductors like Eliahu Inbal, Dimitri Kitayenko, Erich Leinsdorff, Christoph Eschenbach and Hugh Wolff. Since 1989 Reinhold Friedrich is Professor at the "Staatliche Hochschule für Musik" in Karlsruhe.

As a solo player, he gave concerts with ensembles such as Berliner Barocksolisten, La Stagione Frankfurt, Stuttgarter Bachakademie, Wiener- and Zürcher Kammerorchester, Bamberger Symphoniker, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Luzerner Festspielorchester, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Sinfonieorchester des Norddeutschen Rundfunks. These performances were conducted by Claudio Abbado, Semyon Bychkov, Peter Eötvös, Eliahu Inbal, Wladimir Fedossejew, Neeme Järvi, Ingo Metzmacher, Jonathan Nott, Kashu Ono, Christopher Prick, Leif Segerstam, Christopher Hogwood, Frieder Bernius, Dennis Russel-Davies and Hans Zender.

His permanent partners in the field of chamber music are Albrecht Mayer (oboe), Thomas Quasthoff (bass), Ruth Ziesak (soprano), Robyn Schulkowsky (percussion), Thomas Duis (piano) and Martin Lücker (organ).

Reinhold Friedrich toured through Europe, Japan, Israel, Monte Carlo, Portugal, Hungary, Ex-Yugoslavia, Austria, Switzerland, Ukraine, Kirghizia and the Mongolia.

Reinhold Friedrich's spectrum goes from the Ancient music (and its historical original instruments like the baroque trumpet and the keyed trumpet) to the latest solo compositions for trumpet as performances of pieces of composers like Benedict Mason, Johannes Caspar Walther, Rebecca Saunders, Herbert Willi, as well as Hans Werner Henze, Peter Maxwell Davies, Wolfgang Rihm and Bernd Alois Zimmermann are showing. The beginning of his exclusive collaboration with "Capriccio" made the recording of "Classical trumpet concerts" with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields under Sir Neville Marriner. Reinhold Friedrich played the keyed trumpet in several concerts with the Wiener Akademie under Martin Haselböck.
